~Immigration Evaluations~
I work with teens, young adults, and adults. Some areas I support people in are:
Life adjustments and transitions (graduation from high school and transition to adulthood, moving, immigration, career changes, break-ups)
Grief and loss (deaths, loss of friendships/significant relationships, loss of opportunities)
Symptoms of anxiety, depression, panic, stress, burnout
Processing traumatic or difficult life events
Improving communication and boundaries with others
Processing difficult emotions and increasing self-acceptance
Some therapy techniques we might use include:
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
EMDR is used to treat PTSD and trauma-related symptoms
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)
EFT can help us work through relational (attachment) wounds and improve our relationships with ourselves and our loved ones
Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)
SFBT is helpful in identifying and achieving goals and building new habits
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
ACT helps us identify and live out our values in life and consequently feel more fulfilled, even when life circumstances are difficult or beyond our control
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
DBT provides practical skills for mindfully managing difficult emotions and unhelpful urges, as well as improving communication with other people
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
CBT explores the link between our thoughts, emotions, and actions and how we can use this knowledge to make changes in our behavior
Motivational Interviewing (MI)
MI helps us explore changes and decisions in life, weigh the pros and cons, and when we're ready, come up with a plan of action
If your attorney has recommended a psychological evaluation for your immigration case, please reach out. A mental health evaluation with a licensed mental health professional can help document the effects of trauma and abuse you have experienced, or the psychological effects and anticipated hardship you might experience if a loved one or your entire family was forced to relocate to another country.
