she/her/hers
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and a Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) in the state of Colorado. I hold a Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Louisville.
My professional experience includes working in primary-care health clinics and schools. My experience in health care settings has taught me just how closely connected our mental, emotional, and physical health are, knowledge that I use to inform my work with clients. My time in a school setting has equipped me to provide a safe and accepting space to help teens through difficult seasons of life as well as work with the family to help everyone feel more supported at home.
I also lived in Guatemala for a few years and speak Spanish. Although it is not my culture, I believe this experience has helped me better support my Latinx clients and families.
In my private practice, I specialize in supporting teens, young adults, and adults, especially women, to address a variety of concerns, including:
Life transitions
Trauma
Anxiety and depression
Peripartum and postpartum mood concerns and the transition to parenthood
Substance misuse and abuse
Outside of the office, my hobbies include running, hiking, gardening, traveling, and spending time with my husband, daughter, dog, friends, and my backyard chickens.
Some of my beliefs as a therapist:
You are incredibly resilient, meaning you are capable of facing and riding out tough things.
You already possess strengths-- positive skills and characteristics-- that we can build on during the therapy process.
As humans, we all need connection with other beings. Working through relational pain and increasing positive connections with others can both be difficult and incredibly important.
Our mental, physical, emotional health are all connected, as is spiritual health, depending on your own values and beliefs. It is important to leave room to talk about all of these aspects in our work.
You have the right to question and challenge systems and beliefs.
You bring your unique identity into our work together. My job is to provide a safe and respectful space that honors who you are.
I have training in a variety of therapy methods, including:
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
Motivational Interviewing (MI)
Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Specialized training in treating peripartum and postpartum mood disorders through Postpartum Support International
Certificate in Animal and Human Health from the University of Denver
As a therapist, I often draw from multiple therapy approaches. My approach is to work as a team with you to identify the strengths you already possess, discuss your goals, and determine which strategies might be most helpful to help you reach those goals. If you have any questions, it is always your right to ask me or voice any concerns. You are the expert on yourself; I am here to support you.
