Immigration Evaluations

Has your lawyer recommended you receive a clinical mental health evaluation for your immigration case?

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with professional training in conducting immigration evaluations and years of clinical experience with mental health assessments. I also speak Spanish.

Studies have shown that mental health (psychosocial) evaluations for immigration cases can make a big difference in court (as demonstrated in this study).

A mental health (psychosocial) evaluation with a licensed mental health professional can help document the effects of trauma and abuse you have experienced, or the psychological effects and anticipated hardship you might experience if a loved one or your entire family was forced to relocate to another country.

A psychosocial immigration evaluation includes:

  • One or two assessment appointments (in-person or online video sessions), for a total of 2.5-3 hours of assessment.  This is the time for me to learn important parts of your story and assess for mental health symptoms.

  • A thorough report of the assessment, ranging from approximately 12-20 pages.  You can expect to receive the report within 3 weeks of our second assessment appointment. (Expedited services are available for an additional fee.)

  • Communication between myself and your attorney as needed

I can provide psychological evaluations for the following types of immigration cases:

  • Extreme Hardship Waivers

  • Asylum

  • VAWA

  • U Visa

  • T Visa

While it is important that our interviews with you and my final report are in-depth and thorough, I also understand that this process often includes discussing difficult and even painful details. I do my best to consider your emotional and mental well-being throughout this process and am always happy to provide referrals to psychotherapists with whom you can speak to afterwards as needed.

Cost:

The cost of an immigration evaluation includes assessment appointments, written report, and contact with attorney as needed.

Additional fees may apply for a quick turn-around time, if I need to appear in court, or if a language interpreter is necessary. I do speak Spanish and am able to conduct interviews in Spanish at no additional charge.

Final report with standard time frame (3 weeks after interviews are completed): $1250

Final report within 2 weeks: Additional $300

Final report within 1 week: Additional $600
